Rear Deck -

This a very brief account of how I
fitted a permanent cover to the rear luggage area of my car - an easy
job if you have no rollbar stays but a bit fiddly if you do. |
|
 |
The rear stays are a pain in this
situation - I made two side pieces, necessarily with big cut-outs to
clear the bars, also a plate which fits across behind the back of the
seats. |
|
 |
Same bits from the other angle.
Side bits riveted in place, followed by rear cross piece. Then a fourth
strip was fixed along the back edge of the boot area, and I used a
couple of bits of 90 degree alu. extrusion to make the surrounds for
the boot lid. |
|
 |
Boot lid made out of 18swg sheet
with appropriate folds and fixed with a length of piano hinge. The gaps
around the rollbar stays have been partly filled in with a small
section of alu. sheet on each side but have yet to be sealed because I
have yet to decide on the neatest way to do the job. |

Footnote: the outside edge of the deck counts for
SVA purposes as exposed sheet metal, and as such the edge must either
be turned over by at least 180 degrees or else covered up (e.g. by
sandwiching wing piping between the deck and the rear panel, or by
filling and sanding the joint so that it is invisible.) |
