The Luggage Area
|
|
There isn't any guidance in the Book about the luggage area, so this is just one way of going about it. The key things to bear in mind are that there must be space underneath the luggage floor for the fuel tank and the top of the differential (with the rear axle on full deflection).
I can't think of any way of not using pop rivets through the rear panel, so you need to make sure the holes are in a nice straight line. You could also look into using counstersunk rivets, but I didn't.
The spare wheel and the mudguards will in any case cover up most of the rivet heads. Things are easier if you don't have rear supports for your rollover bar, but I wouldn't personally be without them.
The various bits were made out of 18 gauge aluminium, and I found it essential to make paper (or card) patterns in order to cut out the bits accurately.
