Here are several specification sections based on a different donor in each case. There are also some notes on potential problems with the use of this particular donor:

My own Locost!

Different donor choices and what you can expect to get from each in terms of performance/ease of build/cost/etc.

1. Capri 280 based.

2. Capri 2 litre based.

3. Mk II Escort based.

4. Porche 924 based.

5. Sierra based.

6. Lotus Cortina based.

7. Other combinations.

1. Capri 280 based.

Summary: High performance 7 replica based on the Ford "Cologne" 2.8i V6 push rod engine. This car benefits from the higher level of standard equipment from the donor vehicle.

2. Capri 2 Litre based.

Summary: 7 replica based on the 2 Litre Ford "Pinto" engine.

3. MkII Escort based.

Summary: 7 replica based on the 1600cc Ford "Kent" engine.

4. Porche 924 based.

Summary: 7 replica based on a Porche 924. These were fitted with fuel injected 2 Litre VW engines to an Audi transaxel 4 or 5 speed gearbox and independent rear suspension. I wouldn't be considering this at all but there is a rusty X registered 924 in the next street from mine. This is an exercise to see if it makes sense to even consider this donor.

5. Sierra based.

Summary: 7 replica based on the Ford Pinto or CVH engine.

6. Lotus Contina based.

Summary: 7 replica based on the old Lotus Cortina engine.

7. Other combinations.

Summary: A quick list and some personal observations about some of the other alternatives.
